Menurutnya, isu-isu keagamaan soal kerukunan antar umat beragama adalah isu yang seharusnya jadi wacana yang diperhatikan oleh alumni KPI yang notabene berkecimpung di ranah dakwah Islam.
Sudah seharusnya, kata Erwin, alumni KPI mengarusutamakan wacana Islam moderat dan berkemajuan.
“Tantangan keagamaan kita saat ini salah satunya adalah soal toleransi beragama,” paparnya.
Erwin beranggapan isu terorisme dan radikalisme yang akhir-akhir ini mencuat membutuhkan solusi berupa pengamalan ajaran agama yang moderat dan berkemajuan.
“Agama adalah perekat dan pemersatu bukan pemecah belah. Sudah seharusnya pengamalan ajaran agama menampakkan wajah keteduhan,” jelasnya.
Anggapan bahwa Islam mengajarkan kekerasan atau teros adalah stigma buruk yang seharusnya tidak sematkan kepada Islam atau agama mana pun.
Karenanya, kata Erwin, semua agama pada dasarnya mengajarkan cinta kasih kepada sesama manusia. []
