Kisah inspiratif datang dari seorang pria bernama Ikbar, yang lebih dikenal oleh masyarakat Makassar dengan nama Daeng Taba Pagandeng Juku. Bagi banyak orang, Daeng Taba adalah sosok yang sederhana; seorang penjual ikan keliling yang setia melayani konsumennya. Namun, di balik perannya sebagai Pagandeng Juku (penjual ikan), ada cerita luar biasa yang patut diacungi jempol.
Lahir di Bontosunggu pada 15 Mei 1985, Daeng Taba telah menjajakan ikan ke Kompleks perumahan dan rumah-rumah warga selama bertahun-tahun, tetapi siapa sangka bahwa dia akan menjadi candidat doktor di Program Pascasarjana Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Alauddin Makassar pada tahun 2025. Ini adalah sebuah pencapaian yang menginspirasi, mengingat perjalanan pendidikan Daeng Taba yang tak biasa.
Daeng Taba lulus SMK Negeri 1 Limbung pada tahun 2004, namun memilih untuk tidak melanjutkan pendidikan lebih lanjut pada waktu itu. Kesibukannya sebagai penjual ikan dan tantangan hidup membuatnya menunda impian untuk menuntut ilmu lebih tinggi. Meski demikian, semangat untuk belajar dan mengembangkan diri tak pernah padam dalam hatinya.
Pada tahun 2018, setelah lebih dari satu dekade bekerja keras, Daeng Taba memutuskan untuk memulai kembali pendidikan formalnya. Ia mendaftar di Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar dengan konsentrasi di Teknologi Pendidikan. Pada tahun 2023, dengan penuh tekad, ia berhasil menyelesaikan pendidikan S1-nya dan meraih gelar sarjana.
Perjalanan Daeng Taba tidak berhenti di sana. Tidak lama setelah lulus, ia melanjutkan pendidikan S2 (Magister) di bidang Administrasi Pembangunan Negara di Politeknik STIA LAN Makassar. Pada tahun 2024, dengan segala tantangan yang dihadapinya, Daeng Taba berhasil menyelesaikan program magisternya dan meraih gelar Magister Administrasi Pembangunan Negara.
Kini, pada tahun 2025, Daeng Taba telah resmi menjadi mahasiswa program doktor di UIN Alauddin Makassar. Di program doktoralnya, beliau memilih konsentrasi Dakwah dan Komunikasi, sebuah pilihan yang sejalan dengan semangatnya untuk mengembangkan pemahaman serta kontribusinya dalam bidang agama dan komunikasi di masyarakat. Langkah besar menuju gelar Doktor Pendidikan ini semakin menunjukkan tekadnya untuk terus berkarya meskipun menghadapi berbagai rintangan.
“Saya ingin menunjukkan kepada masyarakat bahwa pendidikan itu penting, tidak ada kata terlambat untuk belajar. Meskipun saya memulai lebih lambat, tetapi semangat saya untuk menuntut ilmu tidak pernah padam. Saya berharap kisah saya bisa menginspirasi banyak orang,” ujar Daeng Taba dengan penuh semangat.
“Saya ingin menanamkan kepada adik-adik mahasiswa yang lain, jangan pernah merasa minder dan jangan membatasi semangat untuk belajar dengan alasan tidak memiliki uang. Semangat ini jugalah yang mendorong saya untuk melanjutkan pendidikan. Meskipun gelar ini bukan untuk mengajar di kampus, namun saya percaya gelar ini akan bermanfaat bagi masyarakat umum di masa depan.”
Perjalanan pendidikan Daeng Taba ini adalah bukti nyata bahwa ketekunan, kerja keras, dan semangat untuk terus belajar dapat mengubah nasib seseorang, meskipun berasal dari latar belakang yang sederhana. Kini, dengan gelar doktor yang sedang ia perjuangkan, Daeng Taba bertekad untuk memberikan kontribusi lebih besar bagi dunia pendidikan dan dakwah, terutama dalam bidang Teknologi Pendidikan serta Dakwah dan Komunikasi, yang ia tekuni sepanjang perjalanan akademisnya.
Kisah inspiratif Daeng Taba Pagandeng Juku mengajarkan kita semua bahwa tidak ada batasan untuk mencapai impian, asalkan kita memiliki tekad dan kemauan yang kuat. Ia adalah contoh nyata dari pepatah “belajar sepanjang hayat” yang mampu mengubah hidup, bahkan ketika perjalanan dimulai di usia yang lebih matang.
